Messages from the Chairman:

Assalamualaikum wr. wb.
Dear Colleagues,
We are hopeful for the presence of Allah SWT, may He always bestow mercy on all of us, and it is in His guidance that we carry out our professional duties in holding the annual event of 5th International Conference of Translational Medicine & Health Sciences (5th ICTMHS).

By the end of 2019 the novel Coronavirus; SARS-COV-2 ravaged the world, causing Coronavirus disease-19 or Covid-19. Stated as a pandemic since March 2020 by the World Health Organization (WHO), it is hard to believe that we now are approaching the end of the second year of this pandemic. In Indonesia, a considerable number of people have been confirmed with Covid-19, with high mortality. Indonesian government has
implemented strict health protocol, as well as promoting vaccines acceleration, to delay the transmission and control the pandemic. Aside from COVID-19 countermeasures, there are six healthcare priorities from Indonesia Ministry of Health this year, which are National Health Insurance (Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional/JKN) implementation, decreasing maternal and infant mortality rate, stunting prevention, improving communicable and noncommunicable diseases management as well as health security improvement during pandemic, strengthening Community Campaign for Healthy Living (Gerakan Masyarakat Hidup Sehat/GERMAS), and improving national healthcare system.

Translational medicine is an interdisciplinary branch of the biomedical field supported by three main pillars: bench side, bedside, and community. Implementation of translational medicine includes the application of biomarker testing to detect the virus, safety and efficacy research for therapeutic regiments, and vaccine research/clinical trials for COVID-19. On the other hand, COVID-19 pandemic affects other aspects of healthcare
and medicine as well, i.e., emergency medicine, nursing, dental care, nutritional and pharmacological management. Thus, update on recent status on research and management of COVID-19, as well as other healthcare priorities, are very important for healthcare practitioners and academics. Bearing this into the recent health status, we aim to organize an international conference to encourage the development of research and
knowledge, especially regarding the challenges and priorities on health burden of COVID-19, as well as public health empowerment to optimize public health status.

Our gratitude to the committee, hopefully we can strive together to make this conference a smooth & successful one. And to all participants, we welcome your contributions to the success of this event by joining & submitting your work on the 5th ICTMHS. We are looking forward to welcoming you virtually, and let us all thrive in this conference.
Wassalamualaikum wr. wb.
